This exciting tour offers you chance to experience a challenging trek to the non-touristic remote villages in the border province of Lao Cai. Joining this tour, you will enjoy dramatic sceneries of picturesque villages situated on the foot of mountains, explore and get into the daily life of the hill tribe villagers, such as the Tay, Nung and Hmong ethnic minority people.

  • Day 1 Lao cai - Lung Khau Nhin - Khau Vang (L, D)

    When you arrive at Lao Cai station in the early morning, you will be greeted and picked up by a local guide.

    Then, you will be driven to a good local restaurant for breakfast.

    After having breakfast and a short rest, you will be transferred to Muong Khuong, a small town at the border. This is the place where your adventure begins.

    On the way, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful and stunning beauty of local villages, green and rugged mountains along the Nam Thi River.

    After about 2 hours, you will reach Thanh Binh village. Coming here, the guide will offer a presentation about the region and the coming expedition before you explore around the area by yourself.

    Leaving Thanh Binh village, you will head southeast to Lung Khau Nhin Na Phin, Na Nam and Chung Chai village. En route, you will take in some of the most stunning sceneries, stop regularly to absorb the beauty of the area, and talk with the friendly H’Mong and Nung people.

    You will stop to have lunch in the shade before heading to Khau Vang for an overnight. You will sleep away from the noise and bustle in a Nung stilt house.

    The day 1’s program ends.

  • Day 2 Khau vang - Na Cap - Ban me (B, L, D)

    On day 2, after having breakfast, you will go downhill following a single track and dirt roads sneaking through forests and remote villages.

    The guide will be responsible for showing you some non-touristic yet interesting points. You can observe and even participate in many exciting traditional customs there.

    Then, you will hike for about 3 hours before crossing the Chay river.

    You will find a nice spot and stop for lunch there.

    The afternoon adventure is mainly on rugged terrain to reach Me village which is inhabited by the Nung ethnic minority people.

    You will stay in this village for an overnight. You can choose to sleep either in the tent or at the local school.
     

  • Day 3 Ban me - Quan Than San (B, L, D)

    You will have an early breakfast in Me village; then, you will start the trekking journey through the rugged terrain. You will pass by the beautiful and peaceful rice fields and local villages as well. Don’t forget to keep your camera handy to capture these stunning images. 

    Then, you will trek over some streams, so be prepared to get wet. You will find a nice sport and stop there for a picnic lunch.

    Following lunch and a short break, you start the afternoon program by going on quiet trails to reach the final point of the tour that day.

    After about 3 hours, you will arrive at the small village of Hmong people, Quan Than San village.

    You will have dinner and stay there for an overnight.

  • Day 4 Quan Than San - La Kheo (B, L, D)

    Following breakfast, you will have enough energy for a trekking day full of ups and downs trails.

    You will leave Quan Than San village for more challenging climbs ahead.

    You will have the chance to enjoy breath-taking sceneries of the Thang Sin mountain and Hmong villages far away.
    Your first trekking destination is Ngai Cho village. Then, you will keep trekking about 8km passing through remote villages and stunning terrain to reach Thai Giang Pho village.

    You will find a nice spot and stop to have lunch there.

    After lunchtime, you will go downhill to get La Kheo homestay where you will spend an overnight.

  • Day 5 La Kheo - Bac Ha Market - Sunday market (B, L, D)

    After breakfast, you start trekking two hours to Bac Ha market which is the largest one in the area. It opens on every Sunday. 
    Upon your arrival here, you will be taken to stroll around and explore the market. Coming here, you will not only see different ethnic minority people in their colourful traditional dress, such as Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay or Nung minorities, but also see a wide range of homemade product sold by the locals. 

    After exploring the market, you will drop in a restaurant and enjoy lunch there.

    Following lunch and a short rest, you will take a short walk to Giang Pho village of the Nung ethnic minority people. Nung villages are always set up at the foot of a mountain or along a stream and are named after a mountain. Entering the village, you will stop by a traditional Nung house for a cup of tea before coming back to Bac Ha. You will stay in a hotel and have dinner there. 

  • Day 6 Nam Mon - Trung Do - Lao cai (B, L)

    We drive downhill towards Lao Cai for about half an hour. We stop on the way (before reaching Lao Cai) to take a short walk to Trung Do village inhabited by Tay people. Tay villages are always set up at the foot of a mountain or along a stream and are named after a mountain, a field, or a river. Each village contains about 15-20 households. A large village is divided into many small hamlets. The houses are built on stilts or level with the ground. Stop by a traditional Tay house for a cup of tea.

    After lunch taking a boat cruise upstream the Chay River. The scenery is very beautiful on both sides of the river. The boat trip will end at Coc Ly where your vehicle will be waiting for you for the journey back to Lao Cai. End of tour. 

    On day 6, after having breakfast, you will start the tour by driving downhill to Lao Cai. It will take you about 1 hour. En route, you will stop and take a short walk to visit Trung Do village where Tay people are living. Tay villages are often situated on the foot of a mountain or along a stream and are named after a mountain, a field, or a river. There are about 15-20 households in each village. A large village is divided into small hamlets. Their houses are often built on stilts. When exploring the village, you can stop and enter a traditional Tay house to enjoy a cup of tea. Then, you will embark on a boat to cruise upstream the Chay River. You will have the chance to enjoy beautiful scenery along the riversides. The boat trip ends at Coc Ly where a vehicle is waiting for you to transfer you back to Lao Cai. The tour ends when you arrive at your hotel.
