Among a large number of famous tourist attractions in Khammouane, the stunning Buddha Cave and Tam Xiengleb cave are what you should not miss to explore. Why don’t you take part in this daily tour to explore all the charming beauties of the surroundings of Thakhek at a relaxing peace?
After being picked up around 8 am and departing your hotel, you will start the trip by paying a visit to the stunning Buddha Cave. Rediscovered in April 2004, the cave occupies about 229 bronze Buddhas that are thought to be more than 300 years old.
Then you will return to the main road and continue for a few kilometers for about 20 minutes until you walk to the Tam Xiengleb cave.
Before stopping for a delicious picnic lunch at the so-called "French pier" (Tha Falang) you will visit another cave. It is actually a river with a large pond where the French army used to set up camp in the 1950s.
Then, you can spend time for swimming before going back to Thakhek.
On the way, you can make a stop at the Sikhotthabong Stupa, a King from the Khmer period. He is well known for having constructed at great expense a large stone wall along the Mekong to protect his territory against Siamese invasions.
You will finish your trip by walking around Thakhek to admire the most notable French colonial houses.
