After leaving Hoi An, your first stops are at a 1000 year old Cham temple and the former US and French bases from the independence wars.

Then, you will wind your way into the mountains through luxurious tea plantations, which are home to the people of the Co Tu minority.

You will have a short break to enjoy a stop at a tea plantation before visiting one of the few remaining Co Tu woodcarvers and his family. You will enjoy a home cooked lunch in their house before keeping on your journey deep into the mountains. The culture and traditions of this very isolated area remain essentially untouched by time; making this remote and staggeringly charming region home to one of the most authentic hill tribes remaining in Vietnam.

Your final stop of the day is BhoHoong, a traditional Co Tu village where you will stay for two nights in stilted Co Tu huts. For hundred years, little has changed in BhoHoong and making it the perfect place to relax and admire the natural beauty of Central Vietnam. You will experience a light village walk guided by a local resident and discover the village and unlock its cultural secrets. After your walking tour, you will be free to have a refreshing dip in the river. For dinner, you will enjoy a BBQ by the river (in the summer time), and a chance to communicate with the hospitable villagers to catch a closer insight into their rich culture. Also, larger groups (four or more) will be treated to bonfire and exciting traditional dancing! After that, retreat to your luxuriously outfitted accommodation where the serene setting and clear mountain air will lull you to sleep.

  • Day 2 Co Tu Village - Ho Chi Minh Trail (B,L,D)

In the morning, you will wake up when the sounds of the village come to life. You will watch the morning activities of the Co Tu heading out into the fields and preparing the days meals while enjoying breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. Today is yours to explore, immerse in the village culture and daily life. After breakfast, you will spend a full day going trekking to mountain waterfalls and exploring parts of Ho Chi Minh Trail system by foot.

If that is not your thing, a mountain bike ride through the country side and villages could be more for you. If heading back out on the road is more to your liking, let’s set off to another ethnic minority town, pay a visit to small yet lovely villages along the way discovering and enjoying local food, knowing more about the differences of each village and culture from one village to the next. Or you can simply take a day in the village to relax by the river! Your evening is highlighted with an awesome dinner of delicious Co Tu dishes and a traditional music performance performed by the men of the village, allowing you to listen to their stories in an absolutely interesting way and learn more about their ancient culture.

  • Day 3 Co Tu Village - Hoi An (B,L,-)

On your last day, you will say goodbye to your BhoHoong hosts and head back out onto the winding mountain roads. Making a stop at another Co Tu village, you will enjoy the brocade weavers, a craft that the Co Tu people are famous for. After that, you will embark on the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail, through lush forests and past breathtaking views of the central Vietnam Mountains. Just when you think it couldn’t get any more beautiful, you will arrive at a waterfall tucked alongside a towering peak for a picnic lunch.
The afternoon sees you descending back down toward the coast, having a short stop along the way to discover historic sites and places of interest, before heading east to Hoi An.
