Thanks to diverse fauna and flora, Dalat, which is famous scenic beauty with towering waterfalls, mountains, lakes and pine forests as well as its cool climate, is also the ideal place for bird watching tour. With many distinct subspecies of Black-throated Sunbird, Grey-headed Parrotbill, Blue-winged Minla, Rufous-backed and Black-headed Sibias, Spot-breasted Laughingthrush and Cutia, Dalat Plateau is one of the five endemic bird areas (EBAs) in Vietnam.

  • The services of experienced English speaking guides as indicated in the itinerary (please note: guides will be on hand from pick-up until guests’ return to their hotel or reaching their destination).   • Day 1 The Birds of Ta Nung valley & Tuyen Lam Lake

    If you want to explore the nearby forest areas of the Da Lat/Langbian Plateau, Da Lat City is such a comfortable base. Holding a large number of local species, the plateau offers unique species that you can only find here, or at a small area of Laos and Cambodia. Your discovery of this fascinating area will begin with a foray down to the Ta Nung Valley, which was famous for the rediscovery of the Vietnamese endemic Gray-crowned Crocias in the nineties, which remains regularly seen there. Besides Orange-breasted Laughingthrush, other local species, such as Indochinese Green Magpie and White-cheeked Laughingthrush can also be seen at Ta Nung. Red-billed Scimitar-Babbler, White-spectacled Warbler, Streaked Spiderhunter, Mrs. Gould’s Sunbird, Rufous-backed Sibias, the local race of Black-throated Sunbird and Black-headed are other birds you will be seeking at Ta Nung.

    In the afternoon, from the hotel, you will head out to another very local site of Tuyen Lam lake, an attractive lake surrounded by pine woodland, which provides the possibility of Vietnamese Greenfinch, the endemic species of Black-collared Starling, Burmese Shrike, Chestnut-vented Nuthatch, Slender-billed Oriole and Red Crossbill. You will spend this and the following two nights in Da Lat City of Da Lat, which is a long-history tourist destination well known for its pleasantly moderate climate and scenic setting, and where a French Hill Station was built in the early part of twentieth century.

  • Day 2 The Birds of Langbiang Mountain & Bidoup Nui Ba National Park

    With one of its two peaks reaching 2169m clearly visible on clear days looming above the city of Da Lat, Langbiang is the highest peak in the area. The upper flanks giving way to mixed evergreen forest while the lower flanks are cloaked in pine forest. Both of these forests hold key species for the tour, and after taking a jeep to the trailhead, you will work your way up through Bidoup Nui Ba National Park, keep an eye out for Vietnamese Cutia, the endemics Vietnamese Greenfinch, Large Cuckooshrike and Red Crossbill before emerging into the denser mixed evergreen forest on the upper slopes, which you will search for the notoriously elusive Collared Laughingthrush, a species which is endemic to the plateau. Gray-bellied Tesia, Black-crowned Fulvetta, Pygmy Cupwing, Golden-throated Barbet and Clicking and Dalat Shrike-Babblers are other targets on the mountain.

  • Day 3 The Birds of Cat Tien National Park

    After being picked up at hotel, you will be transferred cross Dong Nai River to reach Cat Tien National Park, where you can begin your wildlife experience. Arriving in time for some afternoon birding, you may see Great Hornbill, Golden-crested Myna or even Black-and-red Broadbill in the grounds of your lodge deep within the park, which overlooks the Ben Cu Rapids. You will also experience 8 km walking journey along the ecologic route: sites of Afzeliacyclocarpa (Go), AncistrolandusTectorius (TrungQuan), Tetramelesnudiflora (Tung), Lagerstroemia Ovalfolia (BangLang) and Cycastumphii (Thien Tue). Then, you will return to the center for dinner. You will spend one night at Forest Floor Lodge in the park.

    In the evening, at 08: 00PM, you will be transferred by jeep to Ta Lai buffer zone for animal viewing at night.

  • Day 4 The Birds of Crocodile Lake

    At 07:00AM. after being transferred by jeep inside the park to junction, you will turn off the main route for 5 km trekking to Crocodile lake station. Taking a short break at the lake watching tower, you can sometimes see Pale – headed Woodpecker, Orange – breasted Trogon, Red and Black and Banded Broadbill, Lesser Adjutant and Purple Heron, Green Peafowl by Crocodile Lake and Bronze – winged Jacana. Afterwards, you will go back to the center for check out.

    Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel in Da Lat city central!
