A comprehensive boat and bicycle tour through the watery-world of the Mekong Delta, taking an in-depth look at the lives and traditions of the locals. Cruise by traditional boat through narrow canals, stopping off at local homes, learning how produce is turned into product; dine on local dishes whilst on a boat and visit a famous floating market.
The day will begin with a two-hour ride from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, we will walk along Cai Thia canal to visit the Cai Thia brick factory and take a boat cruise to visit a local home where rice paper is being made. Next we will take a 1-2 hour tour by bicycle along the small beautiful roads to explore the famous village of Hoa Loc. Along the way, we will see traditional houses made of wood and palm tree leaves and the local farmers going about their daily routine. We will have an opportunity to make contact with them and see how they catch fish or pick fruits in using traditional methods.
We will then take a paddleboat cruise through the narrow canals of the Mekong and enjoy a lunch of some local dishes on the boat.
After lunch, we will visit Cai Be Floating Market. At the floating market, you can watch locals aboard their small boats trading fresh goods and local commodities. We will stop over at a local house where we can see how they make coconut candy, rice-paper, rice-pop corn and rice wine.
End of tour in the afternoon and return to Ho Chi Minh City by minivan.
