For anyone who is keen on being immersed in the beauty of nature, experiencing camping in the forest, enjoying dishes from forest products as well as enjoying wildlife observation, this 3-day Nam Leuk Nature adventure is a perfect choice.
You will be transferred from Vientiane to the Tad Leuk waterfall in the PhouKhaoKhouay National Protected Area. Upon your arrival, you will pay a visit to the permanent exhibit at the Tad Leuk Visitors' Centre.
After having lunch at Tad Leuk, you will take an easy 4hour trekking to go to the first Camp Site, a sandstone beach on the border of the dry riverbed. The trail offers you many bird spotting, tracing monkeys and other animal opportunities.
Approximately: 3 hours transfer & 4 hours trekking
After having breakfast, you will take a 6 hour walk with a steep but short climb to reach the top of a waterfall, n incredible viewpoint over the surrounding canopy. There is a very large Burma Mahogany tree making a spectacular landmark amidst clear bamboo and liana forest.
Then, you will have a picnic lunch on the river bank.
After that, you will arrive to the second Camp Site in the early afternoon. During twilight, you can hear the birds, monkeys and squirrels in the 40m high pine trees around the camp site.
Approximately: 5 hours trekking
On your last day of trek, the trail sneaks through a very rich section of the old forest, known as home of tigers and elephants. You will be shown the traces of elephants from the damaged trees and bushes or even their footprints by the tour guide.
Finally, you will arrive at Ang Nam Leuk Reservoir which is known for being home of the Siamese Crocodile! Your vehicle awaits to transfer back to Ban HoayLeuk for lunch at our local guide’s house.
You will return to Vientiane in the late afternoon.
