Day 1 Lao Cai – Coc Ly – Boat Trip – Bac Ha (L, D)
Once you arrive at Lao Cao Railway station, you will be greeted and picked up there. You can choose to either travel by car or cycle from the station to the starting point of this biking tour.
Once you are at the starting point, you will be equipped with a quality mountain bike which will be your main vehicle of the coming 2-day adventure and the biking tour gets started.
The cycling route will be quite flat from Lao Cai. You will ride through rural area.
In the last 16km of the 1st day tour, the road will be rougher.
Your first destination of the tour is Coc Ly river where you will embark on a boat for a cruise along Chay River. On this ride, you will have the opportunity to enjoy stunning views of beautiful caves and peaceful life on the riverbanks.
Then, you will enjoy lunch at either on the beach or at Trung Do village which is inhabited by Tay ethnic minority people.
At Trung Do village, you can visit a local tradition house of Tay people to enjoy a cup of tea there. You can also have the chance to hear more about the life of them through the talk with the house’s owner.
Following lunch, you will start the afternoon tour by cycling on a dirt trail through the village.
After crossing a narrow stream, you biking journey will be mostly on a good road which goes uphill to reach Bac Ha town. Here, you will stay overnight in a hotel after enjoying dinner in a local restaurant.
Approx: 5 hours cycling/ 1 hours boat cruise/ 0.5-hour walking/ 1-hour lunch -
Day 2 Bac Ha - Lao Cai (B, L)
After having breakfast and enjoying a morning coffee, you will start the day 2 adventure by taking a short walk to visit the old castle of the former Hmong King. Here, you will hear and learn more about the development history of Hmong people through commentary provided by the local guide. In addition, you can enjoy a good view over the town. Don’t forget to keep your camera handy to capture peaceful images of the town in the early morning.
Then, you will leave for the huge Bac Ha market, the biggest one in the area which opens only on Sunday. Upon your arrival to the market, you will be taken to stroll around and explore the market. Coming here, you will not only see different ethnic minority people in their colourful traditional dress, such as Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay or Nung minorities, but also see a wide range of homemade product sold by the locals.
After finishing exploring the market, you will stop at a local restaurant to enjoy lunch there.
Following lunch and a rest, you continue the tour by hopping on the bike to enjoy e nice ride around the beautiful and peaceful Ban Pho village of Flower Hmong and Nung people.
Then, you will leave Ban Pho for Lao Cai. You can go there by car or bike. If you decide to cycle there, the ride will be mostly downhill and flat. You will pass by rural areas and see villages of Phu La, Nung and Tay ethnic minority people.
Before arriving in Lao Cai, you will have the chance to stop at the border of Vietnam-China.Once you reach Lao Cai, you will have time to shower and dinner before getting on a night train back to Hanoi.

Note: The trip can start and finish at Sapa or Lao Cai Railways Station, according to your preference. Car will be one of your means of transportation. In case the trip starts from Sapa, the itinerary can be changed as your wish. You will be able to spend the night in a traditional Tay house at Trung Do village.
